Scott and I are happily announcing that our first baby is on the way to the dance floor!
Since the baby is due late July, I will miss going to the big 10 years anniversary of the Freiburg festival. Or ECITE, or any other big festivals around Europe this year.
Except, we will be in Hungary, participating and teaching at the Kontakt Budapest Improvisation festival, so if you want to come see me with a very big belly, come to Budapest June 30th-July 5th!
Right now, we are still in San Francisco,…

HEEEELP PLZzz! I am looking for a dancer or sports person with a physical disability who is available to participate in my dissertation project. The aim of the work is to explore Contact Improvisation as a form of interchange between able and disabled bodies; this is to go ‘beyond inclusion of disability’ but to explore the beauty of physicality and the potential to create something unusual and unexpected.
Thanks in advance,
And a Happy New Year!!!:)

when we get the next ci36-registrants posting together (probably later today), i'm hoping to include a suggestion that training intensive participants having experiences they'd like to share use their community site personal blogs to make them available to the entire ci36 community. this way we can all follow some of the things that are happening, including those who weren't able to make it to the events. of course, for many here the break from online life (email and also blogs, news, etc) may b…

After a small workshop experimenting in creative ritual using subtle communication, movement and intention (titled “collaborating with nature”) I came up with the following proposal:
We have worked some with the idea of making connections across some distance. We can acknowledge an interconnection that exists beyond constraints of spatial proximity.
As a group, we are favorably placed (Vermont Utah Texas New York Massachusetts Maine) to do collaborations that explore connections spanning great…

among other things, a curatorial documentation team will be conducting on-the-ground reporting of the main ci36 events. the ci36 community site might be a great means for conducting that reporting, both in gathering reports, consolidating them, and conveying them to the community at large (and beyond).
i see three layers of reporting, built on top of the ci36community forums.
- the first layer is assigned reporters (curators, wex folk, volunteers), who would post reports to their
