Contact Improvisation's 36th Birthday Celebration

sitting in a cow pasture which is also boulder county colorado open space land - located at the southern edge of boulder. elevation 5600". weather is low 70's, blustery - i am wearing pants and a long sleeve shirt w a pile jacket, leather shoes to protect my feet from cactus thorns.
landscape is ponderosa pine mesa land - w the sandstone flatirons backdrop a mile to the west. the rocky mtn uplift begins right here in my back yard- a mile from my door.
CI36.. Why go to CI36?
i posed that question to bruce cohen - one of boulders ci elders at a sunday morning lab this winter and his direct answer was that it will be a unique event. that thought/sentiment stuck w me.
then f course, one has to answer for themself - why do i dance contact? the answers are many. for me - i dance contact because it feeds my soul. moving with another person allows me to genuinely begin to know that person, to communicate w them, to start to understand them. i realized thru international travel that only after a person spoke did i begin to understand anything about them. now i know that i can more fully begin to understand a person when i move with them, AND, more importantly, to begin to understand myself - as my dance partner is simply and very effectively mirroring back to me my emotions , my presence, my felt spirit in the moment.
so why attend CI36? it will be a unique experience. an opportunity to meet and share and dance and learn about myself in concert with souls from around the world. To find out how others are in their body, mind, spirit , and hearts in their life. to experience and realize that i am them as well as they are me. to share, to potentially help them on their life journey knowing that they have helped me. isnt that why we come together in life - to help one another?
registration was quick, acceptance notification was quite delayed causing me to wonder if i was in or not. after finding that out, travel arrangements were made - then changed, then begun - ready or not. travel is like construction - anything can happen at almost any time - why? because of objective events like weather and subjective factors such as people. people are at the core of travel and people have stuff happen in their lives that affects their work. I want people to fully experience their feelings and yet it can be challenging when you are in the middle of trying to make a connection to get somewhere at some expected time. it is at that point where i can hopefully take a breath and say - what is happening is supposed to be happening, and everything is right on time even though right on time will be x hours, or days from when I, the almighty I, want to be there.
hopefully you all have safe travels.
Intentions for the CI36 celebration?
to continue to learn about myself, to meet and dance, share and HAVE FUN w souls from around the world. to eat well, to laugh and cry and live some wonder in the time together.
