Leslie Cohen-Rubury, Redding, CT: A woman came into town I’d never met, Sarai, from California. I didn’t have a space, so I said, “Don’t worry, we'll rent a local studio.” It was an incredible dance—we had a common language. We danced for an hour and a half. The woman who was sweeping, the owner of the studio, came up to us and said, “Have you two been dancing for a long time?” That is just the beauty of the form.
